Leadership Development Programs
Transformation through focused development that changes how leaders think, relate and lead.
More than a workshop. Designed for learning that transfers to leadership practice.
EJR Leadership Development Programs are shorter-term, focused development experiences designed for organizations that want to build critical leadership capabilities without undertaking a longer Leadership Development Journey.
Typically delivered over two or more sessions, over the course of several weeks or months, our programs create space for leaders to learn, experiment, reflect and apply new ways of leading to the real challenges they are facing at work.
Rather than treating leadership development as an event, we design programs as a learning process, combining evidence-based frameworks with dialogue, practice, reflection and application between sessions.
Programs can be designed for leadership cohorts, intact teams, or cross-functional communities of leaders.
How Our Programs Are Different
Leadership is not developed by simply knowing more. It develops through greater awareness, wiser choices in the moment, and repeated practice.
Our programs are therefore designed to move beyond traditional classroom learning. They build the capacity of leaders to lead more confidently, skillfully, and effectively in a context of uncertainty, complexity, and change - not only as individual leaders but as a collective leadership community.
How Learning Sticks
PREPARE
Pre-work and reflection
Leaders arrive ready to work on real leadership challenges rather than hypothetical ones.
PRACTICE
Between Session Application
Leaders experiment with new behaviours in their day-to-day work and return with insights about what happened.
DEEPEN
Assessment and insight
Selected programs incorporate validated leadership, emotional intelligence or team assessments to deepen self-awareness and accelerate development.
LEARN TOGETHER
Peer-to-Peer Coaching
Peer partnerships create accountability, reflection and opportunities to learn with - and from -one another.
EXPERIENCE
Experiential Learning
Conversation, reflection, case work, peer dialogue, practice and real-time experimentation bring the learning to life.
APPLY
Real work. Real challenges.
Participants apply the learning to actual conversations, decisions, relationships, strategic challenges and organizational priorities.
THE CONDITION UNDERLYING IT ALL
Psychological safety to learn out loud
We create the conditions for leaders to challenge assumptions, examine patterns, acknowledge what is difficult and practice doing something different.
The result is development that moves from insight → to behaviour → to impact.
Signature Leadership Programs
LEADING SELF
How do I lead myself, under pressure?
-
What got leaders here will not necessarily get them where they need to go next. Learning agility is the capacity to learn from experience, challenge what we think we know and adapt when familiar approaches are no longer enough.
Leaders examine the assumptions, habits and identities that can constrain growth and practise seeking feedback, experimenting with new approaches and learning from both success and failure. The program builds the curiosity, adaptability and developmental mindset required to continually evolve how they lead.
-
Conflict is not only something that happens between people. It also happens within us - through the emotions, interpretations, needs and protective patterns that shape how we respond when stakes are high.
Leaders develop greater awareness of what happens internally and relationally during conflict and learn to work more skilfully with emotion, triggers, competing needs and interpersonal dynamics. Through practice with real situations, they strengthen their capacity to stay grounded, curious and constructive while engaging more courageously with what needs to be said.
-
Under pressure, even highly capable leaders can default to patterns that once helped them succeed but now constrain their leadership impact.
Leaders learn to recognize the reactive beliefs and behaviours that shape how they lead - such as over-controlling, protecting, pleasing or striving for perfection - and strengthen the more creative capacities required to lead with purpose, courage, authenticity and strategic perspective.
-
Executive presence is not about performing confidence. It is about how leaders show up, communicate and deploy their strengths when their leadership matters most.
Leaders explore how they are experienced by others, what happens to their presence under pressure, and how to lead with greater authenticity, confidence, clarity and gravitas - without losing their own voice or style.
-
Authentic leadership is more than simply “being yourself.” It is about developing the self-awareness, integrity and relational transparency to lead in ways that are both true to who you are and experienced as credible and trustworthy by others.
Grounded in Dr. Evelina Rog’s award-winning doctoral research on authentic leadership, this program helps leaders examine the relationship between their values, intentions, behaviour and impact. Leaders explore how greater self-awareness, openness to different perspectives, values-based decision-making and authentic relationships can strengthen trust, engagement and leadership effectiveness.
Through reflection, dialogue and real-world practice, leaders develop the courage to lead more intentionally and authentically -particularly when pressure, competing expectations or organizational dynamics make doing so difficult.
-
The internal voice that drives achievement can also become one of the greatest constraints on a leader's confidence, experimentation and growth.
Leaders learn to recognize the narratives, expectations and self-critical patterns that become amplified under pressure and explore how these patterns affect their leadership. They develop a more constructive inner coaching voice - one that combines high standards with curiosity, perspective and self-compassion - enabling greater courage, resilience and capacity to learn.
-
Sustainable leadership is requires moving beyond managing stress. It is the capacity to remain grounded, purposeful and effective through sustained pressure, uncertainty and competing demands.
Leaders explore their own patterns under pressure, strengthen their capacity for self-regulation and perspective, and develop practices that enable them to sustain both their leadership effectiveness and the capacity of those around them over time.
LEADING OTHERS AND TEAMS
How do I enable others and shape how we work together?
-
Great leaders do more than provide answers. They build the capacity of others to think, learn and take ownership.
Leaders develop and practice the skills required for powerful developmental conversations -listening deeply, asking questions that generate insight, providing meaningful challenge and feedback, and helping others move from reflection to action.
The program helps leaders shift from solving and directing toward creating the conditions in which others can grow, perform, and fulfill their potential.
-
The conversations with the greatest potential to improve performance are often the ones leaders find hardest to have.
Leaders learn to move beyond avoidance, over-softening or feedback that arrives too late, and practice conversations that combine care, clarity and courage. They strengthen their ability to address impact, surface difficult issues and create forward-looking conversations that increase internal ownership while preserving trust, dignity and relationship.
-
High-performing teams need both psychological safety and accountability. Psychological safety without accountability can become comfort; accountability without safety can create fear, silence and compliance.
Leaders explore how to create environments where people can speak candidly, challenge ideas, acknowledge mistakes and raise risks while maintaining clear expectations and shared responsibility for results.
The program helps leaders build cultures where courage and accountability reinforce rather than compete with one another.
-
As leaders become more senior, their impact increasingly depends on what they enable others to own rather than what they accomplish themselves.
Leaders examine the beliefs and habits that make delegation difficult and learn to distinguish between delegating tasks and genuinely transferring ownership. They practice creating clarity around outcomes, authority, support, decision rights and accountability so that delegation becomes a vehicle for developing capability, increasing capacity and scaling leadership across the organization.
-
High-performing teams are more than groups of talented individuals. They develop the trust, clarity and collective discipline required to accomplish together what individuals and functions cannot accomplish alone.
Leaders explore the conditions that enable teams to move beyond coordination toward genuine collective performance - including psychological safety, constructive conflict, shared purpose, clear decision-making and mutual accountability. Teams learn to recognize the patterns that help or hinder their effectiveness and practice new ways of working together around their real work.
-
The ultimate measure of a senior leadership team is not simply how well its members work together, but the value the team creates for the system it serves.
Drawing on the Five Disciplines of Systemic Team Coaching, leaders examine the team's mandate, stakeholders, ways of working, relationships and capacity to learn and adapt. The program helps teams look beyond their internal dynamics to understand how they collectively create value across the wider organizational system.
-
Conflict becomes more complex when a leader is responsible not only for managing their own reactions, but for helping others work constructively through disagreement, tension and competing perspectives.
Building on Emotional & Relational Intelligence in Conflict, this advanced program develops leaders' capacity to recognize and work with conflict dynamics as they emerge in groups and teams.
Leaders practise creating the conditions for difficult issues to surface, slowing down unproductive patterns, working with emotion and difference, and facilitating conversations that might otherwise become avoided, polarized or stuck.
The goal is not to eliminate conflict, but to help leaders become more capable of holding the conditions in which productive conflict can do its work - enabling greater understanding, learning, stronger relationships and better collective decisions.
LEADING THE ORGANIZATION
How do I lead beyond my function in service of the enterprise?
-
The transition to enterprise leadership requires a fundamental shift: from advocating primarily for one's own function or portfolio to sharing responsibility for the success of the whole organization.
Leaders learn to widen their field of view, work across boundaries, hold competing organizational needs and make choices through an enterprise rather than functional lens. The program strengthens the collective mindset and leadership practices required to move from “my area” to “our organization.”
-
Strategic leadership requires the capacity to rise above operational immediacy without losing connection to what is happening on the ground.
Leaders strengthen their ability to make sense of the external and organizational environment, identify what matters most, challenge assumptions and translate strategy into meaningful priorities and choices. The program helps leaders create the space to think beyond today's demands and lead intentionally toward the future the organization is trying to create.
-
The problems leaders encounter are rarely as isolated as they first appear. What looks like an individual, team or performance problem may be sustained by relationships, structures, incentives and patterns elsewhere in the system.
Leaders learn to widen the lens from events to patterns and from individual actors to interconnected systems. They develop the capacity to recognize interdependencies, anticipate unintended consequences and identify leverage points — helping them see the system before trying to fix the problem.
-
As complexity increases, effective decision-making depends less on one leader having the answer and more on leaders knowing how decisions need to be made together.
Leaders strengthen their ability to match decision approaches to different situations, clarify decision rights and roles, invite appropriate challenge and consultation, and move from discussion to commitment. The program helps leadership groups reduce decision swirl, ambiguity and unnecessary consensus while strengthening collective ownership of execution.
-
Leading change requires more than communicating a vision or a plan. Leaders must help people make sense of what is changing, navigate uncertainty and loss, experiment with new ways of working and sustain momentum when the path forward is not yet fully known.
Leaders explore the human, relational and systemic dynamics of change and strengthen their capacity to create clarity without false certainty, engage people meaningfully and respond adaptively as conditions evolve. The emphasis is on leading people through change, not simply managing a change process.
-
Inclusion is not simply about inviting different perspectives into the room. It is about creating the conditions in which those perspectives can genuinely influence conversations, decisions and outcomes.
Leaders examine how power, voice, assumptions, identity and organizational systems shape people's experiences of leadership and belonging. They develop practical ways to increase psychological safety, seek perspectives different from their own, recognize impact beyond intent and create environments in which difference becomes a source of learning, challenge and better decision-making.
LEADING THE FUTURE
How do I lead when the answer, conditions, and path forward are not yet clear?
-
Some leadership challenges cannot be solved by finding the right answer. They require leaders to hold competing needs, make sense of ambiguity and move forward without certainty.
Leaders develop their capacity for sensemaking, adaptive thinking, experimentation and working constructively with tensions and paradoxes - helping them respond to complexity with greater perspective rather than reverting to familiar solutions or reactive patterns.
-
At senior levels, many of the outcomes leaders are accountable for depend on people they do not directly manage.
Leaders strengthen their capacity to influence across functions, levels and organizational boundaries by understanding stakeholder perspectives, navigating competing interests, building trusted relationships and mobilizing others around shared outcomes - without relying on positional authority.
-
Culture is shaped every day by what leaders model, reinforce, reward, tolerate - and leave undiscussed.
This program helps senior leaders become more intentional architects of culture. Leaders examine the patterns and signals shaping their organization and explore how their own behaviour, decisions, conversations and leadership practices can strengthen the culture required to deliver the organization's strategy.
Designed Around Your Leadership Context
We do not believe in taking an off-the-shelf program and simply changing the logo. Every engagement begins by understanding the leadership context: the strategy, the culture, the challenges leaders are navigating and the shifts in leadership behaviour the organization most needs.
From there, we tailor the content, cases, practice and application so that leaders are working on the leadership challenges that matter now.
Programs can also be combined to create a custom development series around a specific organizational priority - such as enterprise leadership, leading through transformation, strengthening accountability or building a coaching culture.
Whether you are strengthening one critical leadership capability or developing a community of leaders across the organization, we can design a program around the leadership shift you need to create.
Rigorous enough to challenge you.
Human enough to transform you.
“What I loved was better understanding and reframing my own resistance to change. This helped me better understand my own challenges that are holding me back from my full potential.”
“Creating a safe environment to learn and have candid conversations about leadership techniques was very valuable.”
