Executive Coaching

Transforming how leaders think, lead, and create impact.

When the stakes are higher, development must go deeper

Leadership at the executive level is rarely a matter of learning another skill. The stakes are higher, the complexity is greater, and the patterns that built a leader's early success can begin to limit their impact.

Executive coaching at EJR goes beneath behaviour - to the mindsets, assumptions, and reactive patterns that shape how a leader shows up, especially under pressure.

As organizational psychology practitioners and executive coaches, we bring psychological depth, rigorous assessment, and evidence-based methodology, along with the power of coaching to every engagement.

But rigour alone does not create transformation. The real work happens in a high-trust relationship where leaders can drop their guard, challenge how they think, feel, and lead, and experiment with new ways of showing up. Our coaching holds both compassion and challenge so leaders can do this inner transformation work.

Leadership development from the inside out

Our approach draws upon vertical leadership development - expanding not just what leaders knows, but how they make sense of themselves and the world around them. We draw on gold-standard assessments and adult development methodologies, including the Leadership Circle Profile® 360 and Immunity to Change™.

We help leaders recognize the patterns that quietly drive their behaviour - perfectionism, control, approval-seeking, or conflict avoidance - and build the capacities senior leadership actually requires: courage, authenticity, strategic perspective, and the ability to lead through ambiguity.

Development is not only about what holds a leader back. We help leaders recognize the strengths they already possess and consciously build towards the leader they are capable of becoming.

We coach the leader in their system

Executives do not lead in isolation. What appears to be an individual leadership challenge may also be connected to team dynamics, organizational culture, competing priorities, unclear decision rights, stakeholder relationships, or patterns embedded within the wider system.

For this reason, we continually shift the lens between:

Self → Relationships → Team → Organization → System

We explore not only what the leader may need to change, but what they may be unintentionally creating around them, what the system needs from them, and what systemic barriers need to be addressed at the root cause level.

What an Executive Coaching Journey Looks Like

Where you are now
Role, context, challenges that matter most right now, what the system needs from you, potential, aspirations

See yourself clearly
360 feedback, assessment, leadership history interview, stakeholder input build a full, honest picture

Name the developmental edge
The few shifts that would most expand your leadership impact

Go beneath the behaviour
Uncover and overcome assumptions and patterns driving how you show up under pressure

Lean on your system
Your sponsor and network engaged as active partners in your growth, not observers

Practice where it matters
Test new ways of leading: real conversations, real decisions, real pressure

Make it who you are
Insight becomes instinct, and the system around you experiences your leadership differently

Horizontal Leadership Development

WHAT IT BUILDS

New knowledge, skills, and competencies

WHAT IT CHANGES

What a leader knows and can do

EXAMPLE

Learning a new communication framework or negotiation technique

TIME HORIZON

Fast - visible in weeks

THE LIMIT

Bounded by the leader's current way of making meaning

Vertical Leadership Development

WHAT IT BUILDS

A more complex way of making sense of the world

WHAT IT CHANGES

How a leader thinks, not just what they think

EXAMPLE

Holding two competing truths or polarities simultaneously instead of picking a side

TIME HORIZON

Slower - unfolds over months and years. Can be accelerated with vertical development

THE LIMIT

Expands the very ceiling horizontal development runs into

Rigorous enough to challenge you.

Human enough to transform you.
